What Does Montage Do
The only writing software script developed exclusively for Mac. Based on the theory that a simple user interface combined with powerful and intuitive features allows an unparalleled writing comfort, Montage makes creating, writing, editing and managing simple scenarios on your Macintosh easy. It is able to import and export documents, to use examples pre-formatted for television film and theatre. The user guide is good for both beginners and experienced writers.
What Are The Features of Montage
Montage supports Leopard, you may import and export files as you could with final draft, text or RTF. You can create your script as an animated map. Montages Smart Views allows writers to visually filter the script to access the desired content according to the chosen criteria. Applications are submitted, synopsis, and scripts directly to contacts in the industry. You can write with the distraction-free mode in full screen. You can print your entry to a printer or a PDF, and much, much more.
Is Montage A Cause For Applause
Montage has sample scripts that act as tutorials, which is really good for any beginner. The tutorial process is not long, and is not irritating or boring. If you are not sure what I mean, then look up Mac tutorials on an online video site and you will know what I mean.
Putting in new scenes is easy and Montage shows you clearly where the breaks are between the documents. It has printing and scrap booking facilities that really help to put things together whilst storing good ideas in an easily accessible place for later.
Not So Good Points
The interface is good looking and user friendly, though it does come off as clunky in places. It is more for a writer, who writes alone and is not part of a team or collaboration.
What I Thought Of The App I Bought
Montage is not fully up to industry standards when it comes to a screenwriting program, but the fact is that most users will not be submitting to the industry on a regular basis, and if you are then just be sure that your application is formatted correctly and you will be fine using this program. The fact that it can import and export final draft formatted documents is a big plus in the montages direction, and makes it worth the money, especially when Final Draft is far more expensive.
It is good for users/writers who like to scrapbook as part of their creations and who do not need all of the industry templates to be able to work.
Should I Try OR Let It Slip By
It is a good choice if you are new to writing or not willing to pay out the bigger amounts for more sophisticated applications. It is worth the money when compared to the more expensive applications of this nature. This may appeal to people who brainstorm a lot and have a lot of ideas and nowhere to put them or access them frequently.
