The Renamer for Mac
Why the little program “Renamer” is a must have!
I know that when I first had my Mac such simple things like renaming a bunch of files at once drove me c-r-a-z-y! After one week I was not far away from throwing my wonderful new computer out of the window and go back to the Windows PC. Yes, there are things on board from your Mac which will allow you to rename a bunch of files. You can do that easily with the Automator – but honestly – my choice is Renamer for Mac. It´s free, easy to use and definitely easier to set up once you have understood it 🙂
So here a short video on how to work with Renamer for Mac you can download here. I think Renamer if first a bit confusing so I made a video for you to show you how easy it actually is. There are a few things you need to keep track on, e.g. to change the ending of your files or you end up with the wrong one.
A little thing to add about Renamer:
I´ve started to rename files from ’03’ – of course you can change that and rename from ’01’. To learn how just have a look at the screenshot.
The procedure we describe above is unfortunately for Mac OS Snow Leopard only.
For Mac OS X Lion and Mac OS X Mountain Lion you can get “Better Renamer” from the Mac App Store. Although it is not free I find it a great program which allows me to easily rename my files. It is a one time investment and really worth because you can rename without the hassle.
